What is a little known fact about you?
Phil: I went to college to teach high school Chemistry and Math. To see if I would have liked to have been a teacher, I try it out occassionally on my kids.
Describe your most creative customer solution.
Phil: When a customer noticed a larger than desired turnover ratio for new employees, we established a program to increase employee morale. One of the items was a fun welcome kit that we shipped to the homes of new employees so that it would arrive when they came home from their first day of work. This program yeilded very good results and was a lot of fun to administer.
What was your favorite customer experience over the past 12 months?
Phil: My favorite experience with a customer group was one time during a parcel carrier strike. It put the logistics side of our business in a tailspin. One of my customers had a sales meeting in Florida and needed a lot of materials and products for that meeting. I rented a truck, picked up product from different factories on my way from Michigan to Florida, and delivered the product in time for a fraction of the cost of freight companies rates during this stress time. Not a bad way to see this great country and take care of a customer in a way that others just wouldn’t.
What activities do you enjoy outside of work?
Phil: Outside of ministry work at church and with kids in our community, I play hockey. This year I was able to play on a team with my two boys.
How would your friends describe you in three words?
Phil: Please No Golf
